This week's news includes messages from Regional Office, our worship schedule for Christmas, a few other notices AND we've included some of the photos from the past week. Just keep reading this page. You'll also find the albums in the main menu on the Photo page. Be sure to check it out and share with your friends.
Don't forget ... Sunday, December 22nd there's the Sunday School Christmas Party at 11 am and the worship service that also starts at 11 am. You are in for a treat as First United Choirs present their Christmas Cantata.
Part of the social outreach done by our Congregation and United Church Women at First United includes preparing gift bags for Stella Circle as well as the residents of Carew Lodge. The UCW gather and donate items for the Carew Lodge bags throughout the year. For Stella Circle there's all the items that the congregation place on the mitten Tree - socks, mitts, hats, scarves. Then when Christmas rolls around, everything is sorted and bagged according to.. There is something for everyone. UCW representatives, Madeline Rideout, Gloria Gosse and Glenys Harris, delivered those gift bags last week.
White Gift Service
What a wonderful service! The children were great - as usual! Is there anything better than celebrating and worshiping - especially when the young ones are in the lead. They drew their own interpretation of the Christmas story.
Now don't be disappointed! We didn't forget the photos of that wonderful worship service. Click HERE to see the album
Other Photo Albums
And the same thing goes - we captured so many wonderful photos at each event, it was just too many to put directly on this page! So do not be disappointed because we've included all of our photo albums. Just click each one and away you go!
- Seniors Christmas Dinner - The food was second to none. Nobody left hungry. The fun, food and fellowship at these events is just amazing. We have the photos to prove it!
- Men's Club Christmas Party - This event was open to anybody who wanted to come along and 70 people showed up for the fun (and the food). The Men's Club did NOT cook for this one. Instead, it was Chinese food take out. Delicious
CHRISTMAS MITTEN TREE HAS ARRIVED!
Have you noticed our annual Christmas Mitten Tree is standing in the foyer again? Please help us decorate it with warm hats, gloves, scarves, socks, etc. to warm cold and hurting bodies and hearts this Christmas season!
CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS: Members of the congregation are invited to place an ornament on the Christmas tree in the Sanctuary in memory of a loved one or for any special intention or occasion. Please speak to Rev. Ian if you would like it acknowledged.
UNITED CHURCH BOOKSTORE CHRISTMAS ITEMS: The United Church Bookstore (320 Elizabeth Avenue). Get that gift for a special someone. Lots of great sale items.
UNITED CHURCH BOOKSTORE APPEAL: The bookstore is seeking volunteers to help with inventory December 16th to 20th. If you have any time to give to help out with inventory, please contact Leona Laundry at 1-800-268-3781, ext. 6141. Many hands might light work!
New Advent Folder
The Advent Folder which we have become so accustomed to using when making special Advent contributions, is no longer available. Since the income from this source is very important to the life and work of our Church, we have produced our very own 'in-house' folder.
As we move through the Season of Advent, it is our hope that members of our congregation will continue to give, as usual, through the use of this new folder. Or, if you prefer, online donations may be made on this website.
Thank you very much and God Bless!
