WEEKLY PRAYER GROUP
Take some time throughout your busy schedule to feed your soul!
Join our Weekly Prayer Group Thursday mornings from 10:30 to 11 am in the Sanctuary
(First United Church, 221 Park Avenue, Mount Pearl)
We make use of different forms of prayers: spoken and silent, meditative and contemplative.
All are welcome!!
LECTIONARY BIBLE STUDY SESSIONS
Rev. Ian leads a Bible Study Group on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 am.

Anniversary Dinner and Silent Auction starts at 6:00 pm ($25/person)
followed by Concert by Jacobs Passage starts at 7:30 pm ($15/person)
Book Your Tickets
Tickets are now available at the church office.
Cost for dinner tickets is $25 each.
Starting at 6 pm - a hot turkey supper with dessert.
There will be assigned seating with six persons to a table.
Limited number of tickets available, so do not wait too long to pick up your tickets!
There will also be a silent auction. We are looking for donations for this. Donation letters are available at the church office.
AND There's a Concert - Jacob's Passage
Contemporary Christian music, country gospel and traditional hymns - Jacob’s Passage in concert.
This will take place in the Sanctuary right after the Anniversary Dinner at 7:30 pm. Cost of tickets for the concert are $15 and can be purchased at the church office.
UCW COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
Have you counted your blessings lately? The UCW would like to help you do that and at the same time you can help with the work of the UCW. How it works ... You review your ‘Count Your Blessings Calendar" daily over the next four weeks and use dimes to count your blessings. Then on Thanksgiving Sunday (October 13th), bring your blessing donation to the church.
NOTE: You can pick up your ‘Count Your Blessings Calendar’ at the church office or in church on Sunday morning.

UCW members: Don't forget the birthday party for the residents of Agnes Pratt Home on October 1st. Members are asked to be there by 1:30pm for set-up
QUILTING GROUP: The Quilting Group will meet Monday, September 30th at 7:30 pm in the Multi-purpose Room.
BOOK CLUB: The Book Club will be starting up again on Wednesday, October 30th at 7 pm in Trinity Hall.
UNITED CHURCH OBSERVER/BROADVIEW RENEWAL
The United Church Observer/Broadview connects you to congregations across the country and informs you of United Church news locally, nationally and around the world. Annual subscription cost: $25. To renew or to take out a subscription, contact the church office or place your request in the offering plate on Sunday morning. Mark the envelope “Broadview” (be sure to include your name and address along with the subscription fee).
Deadline to renew is October 10th.
Food Bank Sunday at First United Church - October 6th: The first Sunday of the month has been designated as Food Bank Sunday. Members of the congregation are asked to bring along any non-perishable food items and place them in the bin in the church vestibule. Envelopes are also available in the church pews if you would like to make a contribution. You can also visit their website, www.bridgestohope.ca, to make a donation online.

Building Fund Sunday - September 29th: The last Sunday of the month has been designated as Building Fund Sunday. Envelopes are available in the church pews if you would like to make a contribution. Thank you for your continued support.
Beverage Container Recycling
Reminder to Support SNAC
SNAC, our Youth Group, Collects Recyclables. The Beverage Container Recycling is an ongoing project for SNAC. They use the proceeds to help fund their activities.
If you would like to drop off your beverage recycling at the church, here’s what can be recycled: aluminum can; plastic containers; glass bottles; steel cans; drink boxes (tetra); mini sips (drink pouches) etc. (Please wash out all bottles and remove all caps before dropping them off.) Please note: we are requesting beverage containers only!
