Lots to do! Lots to learn! We have so much fun!

Register your child for Sunday School at First United Church. Registration starts Sunday, September 8th.
Classes begin at 11 am Sunday, September 22nd.

Anniversary

Anniversary Dinner

Book Your Tickets

Tickets are now available at the church office.
Cost for dinner tickets are $25 each.
Dinner is a hot turkey supper with dessert.
There will be assigned seating with six persons to a table.
There are a limited number of tickets available, so do not wait too long to pick up your tickets! There will also be a silent auction.

AND There's a Concert - Jacob's Passage

Jacob’s Passage will be have a concert in the Sanctuary right after the Anniversary Dinner at 7:30 pm. Cost of tickets for the concert are $15 and can also be purchased at the church office. What a great chance to chat about your summer’s adventures and enjoy a delicious meal followed by entertainment.

Donations Needed for Silent Auction

We are looking for donations for the silent auction.  Donation letters are available at the church office.

REMINDERS

UCW MEETING September 16th: Just a reminder to all our UCW members, we will be resuming our meetings after the summer break on September 16th at 7:30 pm in Trinity Hall. New members are always welcome!

QUILTING GROUP: The Quilting Group will meet Monday, September 9th at 7:30 pm in the Multi-purpose Room.

BOOK CLUB: The Book Club will be starting up again on Wednesday, September 25th at 7 pm in Trinity Hall. We will be discussing ‘The German Girl’ by Armando Lucas Correa. Happy reading!

Community SupperMount Pearl Community Supper ... What is it?

The Mount Pearl Ministerial Community Supper Coordinating Group has been formed to include First United, the Mount Pearl Anglican Churches, Roman Catholic churches, Pentecostal church and Solid Rock church, the City of Mount Pearl and Coffee Matters. The group is collaborating to provide a nurturing sense of belonging in a friendly atmosphere by providing high quality food and services to an all-inclusive community of the citizens of Mount Pearl and surrounding areas.

UNITED CHURCH OBSERVER/BROADVIEW RENEWAL

The United Church Observer/Broadview connects you to congregations across the country and informs you of United Church news locally, nationally and around the world. To renew or to take out a subscription, please put $25 in an envelope marked “Broadview”, include your name and address and put it in the offering plate.

Deadline to renew is October 10th.

We do not change the world by worrying about it, but by dedicating ourselves and our actions to doing God’s will.

Food Bank Sunday at First United Church - October 6th:  The first Sunday of the month has been designated as Food Bank Sunday. Members of the congregation are asked to bring along any non-perishable food items and place them in the bin in the church vestibule. Envelopes are also available in the church pews if you would like to make a contribution. You can also visit their website, www.bridgestohope.ca, to make a donation online.

WE ARE ALMOST AT THE FINISH LINE - 92 Recipes

The goal is to reach 100 recipes. You could win a handcrafted Wonky Wooden Necklace if you are the person who submits the 100th recipe for our Recipe Collection here at First United.

Beverage Container Recycling

Reminder to Support SNAC

SNAC, our Youth Group, Collects Recyclables.  The Beverage Container Recycling is an ongoing project for SNAC. They use the proceeds to help fund their activities.

If you would like to drop off your beverage recycling at the church, here’s what can be recycled: aluminum can; plastic containers; glass bottles; steel cans; drink boxes (tetra); mini sips (drink pouches) etc. (Please wash out all bottles and remove all caps before dropping them off.)  Please note: we are requesting beverage containers only!
