Our Youth Group Meets Regularly

SNAC

During COVID we meet via Zoom

A Message from the Youth Group

We call ourselves SNAC
… which, of course, stands for Sunday Night at Church

We meet once each week (Sunday nights, 7pm-9pm) between September to June. There are usually around 13 – 18 of us in our youth group … from grade seven (12-13 years) to grade twelve (17-18 years). If you fit that age range, why not consider joining our group. You don’t have to be a member of First United to participate. All are welcome.

We have barrels of fun with things such as games, BBQs, movie nights, bowling, hiking, and sports. We also participate and lead in Worship and Outreach supporting our faith community, our local community and our world.

Some of our activities include:

  • leading two church services: the Vesper Service at Christmas and Palm Sunday (with the Sunday School)
  • twice yearly, participating in Faith Talks
  • preparing about 200 Christmas loot bags for prison inmates
  • decorating the Church Hall for Christmas and for UCW functions
  • leading the annual clean-up of church grounds
  • making Valentine Cards and cookies for the seniors in two seniors homes in Mt. Pearl; we deliver the cards and cookies to each individual resident at the homes
  • hosting the Pumpkin Carving Party and Trick or Trunk night at Halloween
  • participating in the Memorial Service on Remembrance Day (November 11th); one of us joins with a member of the Men’s Club to lay a wreath
  • hosting the Easter Morning Breakfast at the Church
  • fundraising: leading the annual “We Can” fundraising program and the ongoing Recycling Program

Together We CAN Project

Together We CAN is an annual partnership project for SNAC and the Board of Management.  Recycled pop cans serve as piggy banks and are distributed to all members of our congregation in June each year.  Over the summer and as you are able, we ask that you save your loose change or slip a bill or two into the piggy bank for return to the church in the Fall.  The funds raised are used (60:40) toward the continuation and activities of our youth group and for general operations of our church.
