MOUNT PEARL COMMUNITY SUPPER: The next Mount Pearl Community Supper is scheduled for May 7th.  First United is responsible for helping with preparation for the supper.  We need a few people to help out for the morning and afternoon sessions. If you can help out at Church of the Good Shepherd on Wednesday morning or afternoon, please let Rev. Karen know or call the church office.  Thank you.

OUR UCW MORNING COFFEE AND CAKE WALK IS FAST APPROACHING: Tickets are available for the UCW Morning Coffee and Cake Walk, taking place on Saturday, May 10th in Trinity Hall from 10:30 am – 12 noon, the doors open at 10:00 am.  Morning Coffee tickets cost $10 each which includes one Cake Walk Chance.  Morning Coffee tickets are available immediately following the Sunday services, through UCW members, and at the Church Office weekdays Wednesday – Friday until May 9th. Get a group of your friends or family together, make up a table of six, enjoy getting together and participate in our Cake Walk which will take place during the Morning Coffee.  Tickets WILL NOT be sold at the door.

QUILTING GROUP: The next meeting of the Quilting Group is scheduled for Monday, May 5th at 7:30 pm. All levels are welcome to join. For more information contact Pam Morgan at 709-691-0214 or pmorgan@mun.ca

BOOK CLUB:  The Book Club meets once a month. The book for discussion for May month is Rock Paper Sex by Kerri Cull. Meeting is scheduled for May 28th. For more information, please contact Pam Morgan at 709-691-0214 or pmorgan@mun.ca

UCW NEWS:  The next UCW meeting is scheduled for  Monday, May 12th at 12:30 pm All ladies should bring their own bagged lunch.  Tea and coffee will be provided.  All ladies of the congregation are welcome to attend.

NEXT MEN’S CLUB MEETING: For our next meeting of our Men’s Club, we will be joining the Men’s Club of Cowan Heights United Church, 141 Frecker Drive.  Meeting date is Tuesday, May 6th, 6 pm for supper at 6:30 pm. All men are welcome!

Our Youth Group collects beverage containers for recycling. If you would like to drop off your beverage recycling at the church, here’s what can be recycled: aluminum can; plastic containers; glass bottles; steel cans; drink boxes (tetra); mini sips (drink pouches) etc. (Please wash out all bottles and remove all caps before dropping them off.) The Youth Group thanks you for your support.

BUILDING FUND SUNDAY: The last Sunday of the month is designated as Building Fund Sunday. Envelopes are available on the table in foyer.  if you would like to make a contribution.  Thank you for your continued support. 

FOOD BANK SUNDAY: The first Sunday of the month is designated as Food Bank Sunday. Envelopes are available on the table in foyer.

MOTHER’S DAY MEMORIALS/DONATIONS: Mother’s Day is fast approaching.  If you would like to make a donation in memory of or in honour of a mother, grandmother or mother-figure in your life, please submit to the church office. 

2025 WEEKLY BULLETIN DEDICATIONS:  If you would like to dedicate a bulletin in 2025 in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a special event, please fill in your name and phone number on the sign-up sheet located on the bulletin board in the vestibule or call the church office at 368-2194.

 ‘POEMS INSPIRED BY THE BIBLE’ by Lillian Bouzane: Lillian Bouzane is an internationally award winning Newfoundland poet. She has just put together a book of poems about the people who lived in the time of Jesus using photos of stained-glass windows, five photos are from Gower Street United Church. It may be purchased on Amazon at a price of $15. Looks like a great book of poems to read!

GOWER UNITED CHURCH Game Night: Gower’s centennial celebration events will kick off on May 6th at 6:30 p.m. with an all-ages game night hosted by the Gower UCW. Join us for an evening of food, fun and fellowship as we play trivia, bingo and other delightful games. This event is free to attend. All are welcome.
