FOOD BANK SUNDAY TODAY: The first Sunday of the month has been designated as Food Bank Sunday. Members of the congregation are asked to bring along any non-perishable food items and place them in the bin in the church foyer. Envelopes are also available in the foyer if you would like to make a contribution. Bridges to Hope thank you for your generosity and continued support.
NEXT UCW MEETING: The next meeting of our UCW is scheduled for Monday, May 11th at 12:30 in Trinity Hall. Please bring a bagged lunch, tea and coffee supplied. UCW member Grace Hollett will be giving a presentation on her recent trip to the UN. If anyone would like to hear Grace, they can attend the meeting by bringing their bagged lunch and stay for the presentation or come for 2 pm to join us for the presentation. All ladies of the congregation are welcome!
Our Youth Group collects beverage containers for recycling. If you would like to drop off your beverage recycling at the church, here’s what can be recycled: aluminum can; plastic containers; glass bottles; steel cans; drink boxes (tetra); mini sips (drink pouches) etc. (Please wash out all bottles and remove all caps before dropping them off.) The Youth Group thanks you for your support.

TOPSAIL UNITED CHURCH ANNUAL FLIPPER DINNER: Topsail United Church Annual Flipper Dinner will be held on Saturday May 23. Take-out dinners are available from 5 until 5:30 pm and eat-in dinners available at 6 pm. Tickets are $25 and are can be purchased at their church office by calling 709-834-4567.

MEMORIAL CHURCH PORTUGAL COVE is hosting their Music in the Cove Spring Concert 2026 on Saturday, May 23 at 7pm. Come along and bring family and friends for an evening of musical variety, a lunch during intermission, door prize, 50/50 draw and lots of fun, laughter and stories. SUMMER STUDENT POSITION – FIRST DAWN EASTERN EDGE REGIONAL COUNCIL OFFICE: First Dawn Eastern Edge Regional Council Office in St. John’s is pleased to announce they will be hiring a youth this summer in their Office, Bookstore and Archives. This position is for a 9-week duration (Monday-Thursday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm and Fridays 8:30 am – noon) beginning as early as Monday, June 15, 2026 and ending as late as Thursday, August 20, 2026. BRIDGES TO HOPE BOARD OF DIRECTORS RECRUITEMENT: Applications are currently open to fill some upcoming vacancies on Bridges to Hope’s Board of Directors. BTH is currently recruiting community members to join the board, to fill available positions alongside our currently serving church representatives. The Board of Directors includes seven members from the local United and Presbyterian Churches, and seven community representatives. We are currently seeking applications for four community representative positions. This is an opportunity to get involved with important work to increase dignified and accessible food assistance programming in the St. John’s Metro region. BRIDGES TO HOPE APRIL STATISTICS: In April, Bridges had a total of 1,708 visits, of which 35% were children aged 1-17, 7.3% were seniors. Bridges thanks everyone for all their support. Some most-needed items at the moment are rice, ready-to-eat meals like instant noodle or ramen cups, canned pasta, mac and cheese cups, and personal care items such as soap, shampoo, etc.
