SHORT CONGREGATIONAL MEETING BEFORE YEAR-END BBQ TODAY: There will be a five-minute meeting in the sanctuary to elect two new members to the board before the BBQ today.
CONGREGATIONAL YEAR-END BBQ: Everyone is welcome to join us after worship today in Trinity Hall to celebrate the past year here at First United Church. Hot dogs, hamburgers, dessert, tea and coffee and drinks will be served. Hope to see you all.
BOOK CLUB: The Book Club meets once a month. The book for discussion for June month is ‘James’ by Percival Everett. The meeting date is scheduled for June 24th. This is the last meeting before September. For more information, please contact Pam Morgan at 709-691-0214 or pmorgan@mun.ca
BUILDING FUND SUNDAY TODAY: The last Sunday of the month has been designated as Building Fund Sunday. Envelopes are available in the church foyer if you would like to make a special contribution. Thank you for your continued support.

FISH AND BREWIS SUPPER FUNDRAISER: We will be having a fish and brewis supper fundraiser here at First United on Thursday July 30 at 5:30pm. The cost is $20 per ticket. The fish will be caught this summer by members of our congregation. Tickets are available at the church office during office hours and after church on Sunday. A chance to take a break from cooking on a hot summer day (we hope ☺)!
Our Youth Group collects beverage containers for recycling. If you would like to drop off your beverage recycling at the church, here’s what can be recycled: aluminum can; plastic containers; glass bottles; steel cans; drink boxes (tetra); mini sips (drink pouches) etc. (Please wash out all bottles and remove all caps before dropping them off.) The Youth Group thanks you for your support.

SUMMER STUDENT POSITION – FIRST DAWN EASTERN EDGE REGIONAL COUNCIL OFFICE: First Dawn Eastern Edge Regional Council Office in St. John’s is pleased to announce they will be hiring a youth this summer in their Office, Bookstore and Archives. This position is for a 9-week duration (Monday-Thursday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm and Fridays 8:30 am – noon) beginning as early as Monday, June 15, 2026 and ending as late as Thursday, August 20, 2026. GOWER STREET UNITED CHURCH is hosting a movie night featuring the Academy Award winning movie ‘No Other Land’. It will be shown on June 20th at 7:00 pm, followed by a discussion. This film that was made by a Palestinian Israeli collective shows the destruction of the occupied West Bank’s Masafer Yatta by Israeli soldiers and the alliance which develops between the Palestinian activist Basel and Israeli journalist Yuval. Donations to a Palestinian Charity will be gratefully received.
