VESPER SERVICE TONIGHT AT 7 PM: Don’t forget to join us tonight for our Evening Vesper Service led by our Youth Group.
NOTICE FROM STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE: The church books will close on December 31st for 2025. Any monies received after December 31st will be recorded for 2026.
WEDNESDAY MORNING ADVENT WORSHIP: Advent is a busy season – some would say too busy. To help keep out focus on the birth of Christ, we are holding a midweek worship and coffee/tea hour on Wednesday mornings at 9 am. Each service will approximately be thirty minutes followed by a coffee/tea time. All are encouraged to attend. These services will take place Wednesday mornings on the 3rd, 10th, and 17th of December.
UNITED CHURCH CALENDARS: The Youth Group are selling United Church Calendars again this year as part of their fundraising. Calendars are just $10 and can be purchased at the church office during regular office hours or after 11 am church service. These make great Christmas gifts!!
BIBLE STUDY: The Bible Study group led by Rev. Karen Bursey which meets on Tuesdays has paused for the Christmas season. The group will resume on January 6th at 2 pm. The lesson for the week will be Matthew 6:9-13, Introduction to the Lord’s Prayer.
QUILTING GROUP: The next meeting of the Quilting Group is scheduled for Monday, December 15th at 7:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room. All levels are welcome to join. For more information contact Pam Morgan at 709-691-0214 or pmorgan@mun.ca
FOOD BANK SUNDAY TODAY: The first Sunday of the month has been designated as Food Bank Sunday. Members of the congregation are asked to bring along any non-perishable food items and place them in the bin in the church vestibule. Envelopes are also available in the church foyer if you would like to make a contribution. Bridges to Hope thank you for your generosity and continued support.
WHITE GIFT SERVICE: Next Sunday is our White Gift Service. Please don’t forget to bring your white gift wrapped donations or white enveloped monetary donations for the service. All will be collected during the service. Many thanks.
MITTEN TREE: Christmas is just around the corner and the annual mitten tree is now up in the church vestibule. Please consider making a donation. Some ideas of items to donate are: hats, mittens, gloves, scarves or warm socks. All items will be distributed to those in need.
PURDY’S CHOCOLATES FUNDRAISER: We are selling Purdy’s chocolates again this year. The deadline to order is November 20th and orders should be available for pick up around December 10th. Orders can be placed online at https://fundraising.purdys.com/1819890-129201. Follow the instructions to sign in or to register. If you already have an account just sign in and you will be in our Campaign and select shop online from top line. If you are a new shopper, you will select register as new supporter and fill in information to set up your account before you can shop. Catalogues will be arriving soon. GARDEN CAFÉ: Please join us in our Garden Café in the Multipurpose Room before 11 am Sunday service for a brew and a chat. All are welcome!
Our Youth Group collects beverage containers for recycling. If you would like to drop off your beverage recycling at the church, here’s what can be recycled: aluminum can; plastic containers; glass bottles; steel cans; drink boxes (tetra); mini sips (drink pouches) etc. (Please wash out all bottles and remove all caps before dropping them off.) The Youth Group thanks you for your support.
BUILDING FUND SUNDAY: The last Sunday of the month is designated as Building Fund Sunday. Envelopes are available on the table in foyer. if you would like to make a contribution. Thank you for your continued support.

BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE – St. James United Church will be having a reflective Blue Christmas Service on December 16th at 7 pm for those grieving who need extra support and kindness during this holiday season.
